Plan your boiler replacement.
The price of a boiler replacement depends on the existing system, hot water demand, boiler location and associated pipework. Gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer qualified for that work.

The installation to discuss
- Assessment of the existing heating and hot water setup
- Proposed boiler, location and controls
- Associated radiator, pipework and electrical requirements
- Who carries out gas work and provides installation paperwork
Check the installer and the paperwork
Before gas work begins, check the engineer’s Gas Safe ID card and the relevant work categories on its reverse. Ask who will commission the boiler, handle any building regulations notification and provide the handover documents. Product warranty terms should be checked separately from installation workmanship.
What can change the price?
Boiler location
A move can change flue, condensate, pipework and electrical requirements; it is not the same work as a replacement in place.
Hot water use
The number of bathrooms and simultaneous hot water use help the installer assess suitable options.
Work outside the boiler
Confirm controls, system preparation, removal of old equipment and repairs to disturbed surfaces rather than assuming they are included.
Questions about this work
Does a manufacturer’s warranty cover all future costs?
Check the product terms, registration and servicing conditions. A manufacturer’s warranty and the installer’s responsibility for their work are different matters.
What should the handover include?
Confirm the installer’s setup and safety-check record, operating instructions, warranty registration responsibilities and any required compliance certificate before booking.
Can you quote for radiators at the same time?
Include the rooms, existing radiator positions and proposed changes in the same enquiry. This lets the installer assess the boiler and radiator work together.
